The Hunger Free Coalition of Brazoria County is a collaborative network of organizations, businesses, schools, faith-based groups, government agencies, alliances and community members working together to address food insecurity throughout Brazoria County.

How the Coalition Started
Harvest for the Hungry partenered with Save the Children and Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty to create the Hunger Free Coaltion of Brazoria County. Harvest for the Hungry is the anchor organization for the coalition. Thank you to Harvest for the Hungry for your continued support.

Bridge the Gap Project

The Bridge the Gap Project is a collaborative initiative of the Hunger Free Coalition of Brazoria County designed to provide food assistance to students during extended school breakswhen school-based meal programs are unavailable. when school-based meal programs are unavailable. Working in partnership with local school districts, food pantries, businesses, and community organizations, the project helps ensure that children continue to have access to nutritious food during times when they are most vulnerable to hunger.

Food Distribution & Packing Parties

Packing parties bring together coalition members, community members and volunteers to "pack" reusable shopping bags with measured amounts of ready to eat food. School personnel then pick up the bags to distribute to students before the extended break. A theme is used along with providing a meal before the packing party.

Hunger Free Summit

he Hunger Free Summit is an annual community gathering hosted by the Hunger Free Coalition of Brazoria County that brings together organizations, businesses, schools, faith-based groups, healthcare providers, government agencies, and community members committed to addressing food insecurity. The summit serves as a platform for learning, collaboration, and action, creating opportunities for participants to share resources, identify challenges, and develop innovative solutions that improve access to healthy food throughout Brazoria County.

Distribution data - Bridge the Gap
After each packing party and distribution, coalition members are updated with the amount of pounds packed, the number of meals provided and the number of children served. The data presented is for the 2025-2026 school year.
